Forensic Scientist since 2000

 

Allen is a Senior Lecturer in Phonetics at City University London where he has been teaching for thirty years, alongside which, he consultant for Forensic Equity Limited.

 

His first degree was in the Biological Sciences at the University of Sussex, and following an interest developed in my undergraduate studies he subsequently acquired postgraduate qualifications in Experimental Phonetics and a Masters in Phonetics from University College London.

 

As a Senior Lecturer in Acoustic Phonetics at City University, Allen teaches the physics of speech and oversee research in his subject at all levels, including doctoral supervision at City and York Universities.

 

Allen also lectures on Forensic Phonetics at the College of Policing, Universities in Belgium and Germany. His current research includes the decryption of coded English, the forensic analysis of background birdsong, and sample size in relation to the reliability of speaking fundamental frequency.
